Changes To The Ontario Apprenticeship Program. Important information regarding Trade School effective September 1st,2024 Changes To The Ontario Apprenticeship Program

Skilled Trades Ontario (STO @skilledtradesontario), in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), is replacing the existing 2003 Electrical Trades Curriculum. The implementation of the new 2023 Electrical Trades’ curriculum will be phased in, starting September 1, 2024

Existing apprentices, registered before September 1, 2024, will have limited opportunity (based on the new curriculum phased-in implementation dates below) to complete existing curriculum levels under the 2003 program

An apprentice (either newly registered after September 1, 2024 or an existing apprentice registered before September 1, 2024) who takes the new level 1 program on and after September 1, 2024, will be required to take remaining new levels as applicable (levels 2, 3 & 4 for Industrial Electrician and Electrician-Construction and Maintenance and levels 2 & 3 for Electrician-Domestic and Rural).
